CATTLE CRIMES DOWN UNDER
More cattle mutilations have been reported, this time on Cloverly Station cattle ranch in north west Queensland, Australia.
We are told that this is an 1100 Brahman-cross herd cow operation located on a14,600km property, which is about 15k from the Eungalla Dam.
For us Americans that equates to 9,072 square miles! Or ranch that is roughly 95 miles by 95 miles or 60,800 acres. That's right, we are talking about a cattle ranch that's bigger then some small countries. If you're thinking that that much land cost a fortune you would be right.
Suffice it to say the husband and wife who the Cloverly Station, cattle ranch, are by no mean unsophisticated subsistence farmers.
These are in fact sophisticated, highly skilled agribusiness owners who wouldn't be around five minutes if they didn't know what they were doing. However, you hardly get that picture from any of the articles you read concerning these cattle mutilations.
Now if we look see that the ranch where the mutilations took place is about an hour and half drive west of Mackay Queensland, Australia which is located right their on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. This area is in what is considered the tropical zone buy it is by no means a jungle. It does appear to take in vast sparsely populated area made up of rough mountainous country and dependent in large parts on the local river system for water.
THE COURIER reports the following:
What we see here is eerily similar to the cattle mutilations that happened in Oregon.
We are further told:
Mrs Cook said a week ago another steer died. When Mick went back to tow the beast a few days later, it had not been touched by dogs but there were strange markings.
“They were obviously frightened and we were blaming a dingo, but a week or so later we discovered a cow dead not far from where it all happened, with all of the markings.”
What many see here is a clear pattern that points to the unexplained. The remoteness of the attacks seems to be a common denominator. In an ABC.net interview Mr. Cook states:
"By that point we are probably two hours from your nearest neighbour, it's very mountainous country … there's no way anyone can get there unless they come straight past our house.

As in the Oregon mutilations the very remoteness of the events seems to be a barrier to any human involvement. And like the recent Oregon mutilations these cattle crimes down under seem to make no rhyme or reason, at least in human terms.
